GRACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN > SPRINGFIELD, OHIO
Kapp Construction completed construction on this $2.5 million ministry expansion project at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, spanning just over a year. While the church still had ample space in the sanctuary and parking lot, much of the building had been outgrown.
A new youth education wing was added to the west side of the building, accessible through an extension of the current narthex. The community outreach center was extended to the north, almost tripling in size, allowing Grace Evangelical Lutheran to seat nearly 400 people for large functions. The kitchen was also enlarged, and beautiful exterior patio areas were created for additional fellowship space. This expanded multi-purpose space was designed to be a resource for the Springfield community.
During the dedication of the Community Center, a time capsule was placed by Kapp Construction Site Superintendent Ed Russell. This ceremony also included the ringing of the church’s 90-year-old bell. This bell was moved from the church’s previous location 15 years ago, and has resided in the narthex awaiting the construction of its new home over the main entrance to the Community Center.
